Here’s the Weekly Writers Monday post. Thanks to my paid subscribers, today’s post is open to everyone.
Five Visual Prompts
Another chance to warm up your writing fingers with a quick prompt. I really enjoyed what people came up with last time!
Choose one of the five images below.
Write up to 100 words inspired by it.
Describe the scene. Tell a story. Peep inside a head. Let a poem flow. Whatever you feel inspired to do, as long as the first draft is no more than one hundred words. (You can revise it and polish it and extend it afterwards, if you like. It may become the seed of something else: a poem, a story, a scene.)
Maybe that’s all you want to do. But you can also post it as a comment or in the chat.
If you are a paid subscriber, you can also email it to me if you want a quick first impression feedback: a bonus of being a paid subscriber. (Note that the last six Weekly Writers posts have been for paid subscribers only, so if you’re an author and don’t want to miss out, sign up with the link below to access them all!)
Happy writing!
Karl
It was the book prompt that elicited the following, not that it shows. It's part of my world building for something I'm expanding. I had laid down a few more sentences heading (in my meandering way) straight for that stack of journals, but I got pulled over by the word count police. Dang.
Thank you for the opportunity Karl.
"Afterward, while Rachel lay sleeping, Donovan let himself out of her apartment. As he shut the door and felt the lock click into place he could sense, could even see, the early light behind the door bouncing off the floors, soaring up into the ceilings, and he already dreaded going back to his flat. He sighed and walked, his sax case banging against his thigh, walked and sighed, handle squeaking every third step, or every fourth, or sometimes.
Back in his flat he opened his only window then closed it again. He snapped open the case and went into the closet. "
