I’m going to include some more survey data. Note that all base figures were converted to US dollars for ease of comparison, and I occasionally give converted UK GBP figures for my UK readers.

ALLi Indie Author Income Survey 2023-2024 (Global)

In Spring 2023 the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) commissioned an independent global research survey of independent authors who spend more than 50% of their working time on writing and publishing activities. They wanted to see how authors fared when the global trend is towards the devaluing of creative labour, with earnings of primary creators decreasing across multiple creative industries.
