Did you know, all robins (male and female) have red breasts? I only found that out recently. All my life I thought only males had red breasts.

We live and learn, and even our long-held beliefs may be wrong. That is how we change.

I’ve been doing some campaigning for green spaces and the environment recently. I spoke at a demo, and did a litter pick on Sunday. Also been seeing some horrible racism and bigotry, which led to me writing this piece.

Book News

I have been setting up future Kickstarters. One is for hardbacks of the Lost Solace books. And the other is for a potential Lost Solace book 6. If there is enough interest, and I decide to go ahead, note that the book will NOT be “soon”! The story I have planned is epic, and requires a lot of work.

I also had a bit of a frustrating booksale issue recently.

I always like to treat people as I’d like to be treated. Hence, trusting people. One example is that I don’t add DRM to my ebooks. DRM only ever causes problems for customers, who wants that?

I also enabled automatic refunds on any sales from my ebook site. If someone was unhappy, they could get their money back without needing to ask.

Unfortunately, some people abuse this, and ruin things for everyone.

For example, I have this bundle of all my ebooks in one package.

But some people had been buying it, downloading all the books, then immediately requesting (and automatically getting) a full refund. Worse, I end up getting charged for the refund, so it costs me money!

I don’t demand people create accounts or authenticate emails, as that is a pain, and I know I hate it. But as a result these people entered fake email addresses, so I can’t even contact them to find out if there was a genuine reason that my writing didn't gel. Just in case I am wrong in my assumption that they are abusing my kindness to get all my books for free.

Anyway, I’m afraid I’ve had to turn off automatic refunds, as the abuse-to-genuine-customer ratio swings towards the former. I apologise for that.

But these are excellent books, representing my total fiction output from the last thirteen years. I don’t think anyone who truly loves good stories and excellent characters would be disappointed. There are bound to be some books in there that resonate with them.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest.
